I took a walk in my neighborhood park, Morningside park, and grabbed my new Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens for a drive test. I have to say, though, photos do not do any justice to this gorgeous spot. Located in the Upper West Side by Columbia University, the park features dramatic multi-leveled landscaping, a small waterfall, and diverse nature. I am looking forward to coming to the Morningside park for portrait photo sessions and engagement shoots, but today I was only there for 20 minutes. 100mm is the first macro lens in my bag - as an event photographer, I mainly own a few tele- and mid-range lenses and a couple of wide-angle L lenses. While I really wanted to add a macro lens to my event photography camera bag for detail and close-up images, part of me really wanted to explore and play around with macro photography in nature. Here are a few images I made today on a short stroll. It's the end of November and something in the air today gave me major dark academia vibes - here is the result.
